Slovak Film Commission Debuts at the Asian Contents & Film Market in Busan

In October 2026, the Slovak Film Commission attended the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) in Busan, South Korea, for the first time. The mission also included a presentation for Korean film producers at the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Seoul, introducing Slovakia as a filming destination.

The participation marked the commission’s first presence at the market and a first step towards establishing contacts with the South Korean and wider Asian audiovisual industry.

About ACFM

The Asian Contents & Film Market takes place alongside the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) and is one of the leading industry platforms in Asia, bringing together producers, sales agents, studios, broadcasters and funding bodies. The 2026 edition presented 64 programs across seven categories, including the Asian Project Market, the Busan Story Market focused on intellectual property and adaptations, the documentary platform Doc Square and the Producer Hub. Thailand was this year’s Country of Honor.

Meetings and new contacts

During the market, the Slovak delegation held a series of meetings with producers, production companies and industry representatives. The aim was to introduce Slovakia’s production environment to partners who are often encountering it for the first time, and to open conversations about possible future cooperation, from co-productions to international shoots.

Presentation at the Embassy in Seoul

A key part of the mission was a dedicated presentation for film producers, hosted at the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Seoul. In a concentrated session, the Slovak Film Commission introduced three core areas:

  • the Slovak cash rebate scheme for audiovisual productions,
  • the variety of filming locations Slovakia offers, from historic towns and castles to mountain landscapes and urban settings,
  • experienced crews, service companies and professional production infrastructure.

A first step

The visit to Busan and Seoul laid the groundwork for further dialogue with the South Korean film industry. The Slovak Film Commission will follow up on the contacts made and continue to present Slovakia to Asian partners.
