Detva

Detva lies on the southern slopes of Poľana, at the heart of the country. Detva is famous by its highlands and the traditions of its folk culture. The valley of Poľana is characteristic for its dispersed settlements. 

Detva has been organising the Folklore Festival Poľana, a sought-after international event, for more than four decades. The festival is held yearly on the second weekend in July in a natural amphitheatre, which belongs to the biggest and most beautiful natural stages in Slovakia.
