Skalka near Trenčín

The Skalka area consists of two areas - Malá and Veľká Skalka. There is a pilgrimage house and a Romanesque two-towered church on Malá Skalka. It is the oldest pilgrimage site in Slovakia. It also includes a small cave complex, close to the Váh River. In 1224, a Benedictine abbey had its seat here.
The Veľká Skalka Monastery (or the ruins of the monastery) is a national cultural monument.
