Slovak Films

Slovak Film Institute (SFI) is a state institution active in the field of cinema, entrusted, among other tasks, with the competence of the national film archive and of the national film centre.

As the national film archive, SFI handles producers' rights to Slovak films produced by state organisations before 1991. SFI operates its own digital restoration centre and has been digitally restoring Slovak audiovisual heritage, taking care of the whole digital restoration workflow in-house. Learn more about Slovak classics and recent releases of digitally restored Slovak films here.

SFI is also the national film promotion agency promoting contemporary Slovak films and filmmakers internationally. If you are interested in new and upcoming Slovak films, you can find a database, various catalogues and more here.
