What's Slovak in Berlin

Shadow Country
Virtual Berlinale and EFM give you an opportunity to meet multiple talented Slovak filmmakers and producers while also catch up with Slovak cinema at market screenings.

Berlinale Talents has two participants from Slovakia, both directors and producers: Barbora Berezňáková, whose debut documentary feature Never Happened had its international premiere at Warsaw FF in 2019, and London-based Matúš Krajňák, author of multiple short films (including Monologues which screened at Warsaw FF in 2014) and commercials.

Teodor Kuhn, whose directing debut By a Sharp Knife won directing award at 2019 Cottbus FF, is participating in the scriptwriting training program ScripTeast with his new project Trophy.

Experienced producer Zora Jaurová is taking part in the 2021 edition of Emerging Producers, a promotional and educational training that brings together talented European documentary film producers.

EFM market screenings schedule includes Bohdan Sláma’s latest film Shadow Country (featured photo) which had its international premiere at last year’s London Film Festival.
